“Mona Lisa wanted a dog more than anything in the world…a dog named Pickle!” So begins an original musical theatre adventure about a dog who loved to read—and a little girl who didn’t. Mona Lisa and her mother celebrate her adoption day by going to the local animal rescue shelter to find a pet. There they discover a dog with an amazing talent: he can read! At first Mona Lisa is thrilled with her new pal, but as his ability emphasizes her own struggle with reading, she becomes less enamored with her choice. This musical tackles serious issues, including dyslexia and what it means to be adopted, yet it is also a joyous and entertaining ride.
